Salman Khan Told Karan Johar: 'Koi Paagal Hi Cameo Karega Kuch Kuch Hota Hai Mein Aur Woh Paagal Main Hun'; Read On To Know How Their Conversation Ended!
Karan Johar narrated an interesting tale about how Salman Khan agreed to star in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai for a cameo
Filmmaker Karan Johar marked his directorial debut with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai starring Kajol, Rani Mukerji and Shah Rukh Khan. The movie got the ticket window ringing, it also marked a special appearance by superstar Salman Khan. Just to brush your memory, the Dabanng actor played Kajol’s onscreen groom, Aman. KJo who graced the singing reality show, Indian Idol 12 revealed on the show how Salman came on board for the movie. And trust us this will win Salman Khan some more brownie points from his fans.
Back in 1998, when KJo was meeting people to freeze an actor to play Aman onscreen, he only faced rejections. People he approached turned down the offer as it already had superstar Shah Rukh Khan on board. It was at Chunky Panday’s house when the actor in his style asked the filmmaker if he is done looking for actors to play Aman. Followed by KJo being in a surprise shock when Salman Khan himself agreed to play the role, even before it was narrated to him.
Karan said, “Toh woh meri taraf aaye aur unhone kaha apni style mein, ‘Tune kar li shopping?’ I said, ‘Shopping?’ He said, ‘Haan, tu gaya na sab ke paas. Woh shopping hi toh hoti hai. Lekin iss film ko karne ke liye kisi ko paagal hona chahiye aur main woh paagal hoon’ (Salman came up to me and in his signature style asked me if I was done shopping. I was confused. He said, ‘Yes, you went to everyone, that is just like shopping. But someone needs to be mad to do this film and I am that mad person’).”
The next day Karan enthusiastically went to Salman’s residence and narrated the story. He said, “Main darr gaya, maine socha inko lag toh nahi raha ki Shah Rukh ka role main inhe offer kar raha hoon.” While Salman instantly agreed after listening to the first part, KJo assumed the actor thought he is playing the lead. But guess what Karan told the actor he would be playing a cameo and Salman’s reply melted his heart. Karan continued, “I said, ‘But sir, aapka role aaya nahi, woh toh second half mein hai.’ He said, ‘Mujhe kya farak padta hai? Main aapke pitaji ko jaanta hoon, main unke liye kar raha hoon yeh film.” ALSO READ: Inside Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Karisma, Malaika Arora, Karan Johar And Others' Glitzy & Starry Sunday Get Together- See Pics
